In Montreal, there are two fuel facilities currently in operation; Montreal-Trudeau International Airport and Montreal-Mirabel Airport which services cargo flights only. Both facilities consist of a jet fuel storage tank farm, an underground jet fuel hydrant system, and gasoline & diesel storage and distribution facilities. In recent years, the jet fuel infrastructure has undergone significant expansion at Montreal-Trudeau in order to keep pace with the airport authority’s passenger terminal development program.
Services at both airports are provided via the airline fuel consortium and include facilities administration, into-plane fueling, and tank farm management. Jet fuel is delivered to Mirabel via tanker truck and is distributed using refueling tankers. At Trudeau, jet fuel is received via pipeline and tanker truck, and is then distributed to each aircraft gate via the hydrant system. Approximately 88,000 flights are fuelled annually at Trudeau and Mirabel combined.
