The fuel facility at Pearson International Airport in Toronto is the largest airport jet fuel facility in Canada. Over two billion liters of jet fuel flow through the system each year. Bulk jet fuel storage capacity, underground hydrant system fueling, and gasoline & diesel storage and distribution facilities are all available at Pearson International. The jet fuel infrastructure has expanded rapidly over the past several years in order to keep pace with increasing demand and the airport authority’s passenger terminal development program. Most notable, has been the construction of a new rail offloading, storage and distribution facility.
Services at this airport are provided via the airline fuel consortium and include facilities administration, into-plane fueling and tank farm management. Jet fuel is received via pipeline, railcar or tanker truck, and is then distributed to each aircraft gate via the underground hydrant system. Approximately 190,000 flights are fuelled annually at Pearson International.
